Rachael Wegener descends from European heritage. Her father is from Polish and German backgrounds and her mother from Holland. She is the first Australian born in her family.Rachael has trained at some of the world's leading institutions - The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), Vancouver Film School (VFS) and The Flinders University of South Australia. Working with some of the best Master teachers in the business. She has a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Hons) an Advanced Diploma in Acting for Film and Television and a Bachelor of Commerce / Law.Her love and curiosity of the world, together with her education has given Rachael a wide range pallet of well rounded experiences and exposure to be creatively inspired to play a diverse range of characters and tell local and international stories.She was nominated for the 'Walk of Fame' at the Adelaide Festival Centre for her professional theatre performances in Harold Pinter's 'Old Times', as the lead of the 'posh English' Anna and in William Mastrosimone's 'Extremities' as the 'feisty American' lead of Marjorie. Rachael learned some Egyptian Arabic as an acting challenge set by Director Michael Rymer for her role as a devastated feisty Egyptian.Rachael has attended many master classes, from being awarded a place into 16th Street Melbourne's 'Matchfit' Master class program with Ian Sinclair , 2.5 years of coaching three times a week in classes bringing her again with Tony Kight (NIDA's past head of Acting and teacher also to Cate Blanchett, Sam Worthington) in a school she ran with Tony in Adelaide. Multiple workshops with The Australian Film and Television Academy (TAFTA) and private coaching and classes with Paul Parker- Head of The Australian Institute of Dramatic Art. 4 week Master class on legal and medical genres with Master teacher and Casting Director Lisa Zambetti (Criminal Minds, Planet of the Apes), Participating in a part time program at SA Casting- Ann Peters School of Acting for 4 years in her teens to name a few.Rachael also trained in Ballet under the Royal Academy of Ballet School System for 10 years, studied music -keyboards and Saxophone under the Yamaha Music school System, learned English saddle horse riding, trained in Martial Arts - Muay Thai Kickboxing, Zen Do Kai with some Judo, was a State youth SAPSASA Tennis competitor and has been alpine snow skiing regularly since she was 4 years old .From her music training and heritage Rachael has developed an affinity and love for accents picking them up quick - with North American, Russian, German and English (BBC and Cockney) being her top favorites!Rachael was a resident actress and producer for Slixer Entertainment Canada in their Murder Mystery theater shows for over 120 performances. Which were both a mixture of scripted and Improvised. Working with some of Canada's best Improv teachers - BAFTA winner Michael Robison in Vancouver being one of them.She was named a 'One to Watch' winner by the Screen Producers Association of Australia which is a prestigious industry vetted acknowledgment opening Rachael to connect with Industry production houses, and film and TV Networks. Mentored by the CEO of Fremantle Media Australia - Chris Oliver- Taylor, Director Michael Rymer (NBC's Hannibal) and Michelle Krumm (VP of Archlight and past VP of MIRAMAX ) .Was awarded one of the last Australian Broadcasting Corporation's 12 month youth Cadetship's on the TV show 'Recovery' to learn in front and behind camera roles and duties whilst also creating segment content for the show in front and behind the camera. Which she undertook in her Gap Year whilst making the Hip Hop Documentary Contents Under Pressure featuring RUN DMC and The Hilltop Hoods - whom she co managed for a few years whilst at University.She has worked with the Canadian Cable Giant SHAW NETWORK where she handled US and Canadian TV and film content and was awarded a place in their TV Studio and content creation training program .Rachael's strong Right brain and Left brain aptitudes lead Flinders University to write an article on the Alumni in 2019 celebrating her drive and success as a actress to create and collaborate.
